WYOMING CHAPTER HOLDS SUCCESSFUL WIND ENERGY SEMINAR

The Wyoming Chapter hosted a very successful Wind Energy Seminar on July 15-16. It featured Terry Argotsinger as the instructor on July 15 and a panel discussion on the value of wind power and leases in the morning of the 16th. The afternoon of the 16th featured a tour of Laramie County Community College and their wind turbine training facility. A tour of a local wind farm was also conducted. The panel included the Doug Cook, Dean of Technical Training, Butch Parks, the Commercial Property mananger for the State of Wyoming and two area ranchers, one with a wind lease and the other with a wind farm on the property. They were Mark Esile and John Francis.

CHAPTER MEETING

The Chapter held a brief meeting on the 15th with 10 members present. Secretary’s report is on line from the last meeting. Treasure indicated 41 people signed up for the seminar. Checking account with two unpaid bills remaining to be paid is about $20,000. Net on course is about $1,000 to $1,500. The comments from participants indicated the material, topic and presentation were all good to excellent. The panel discussion was very good. Students were from Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska and California.

The Wyoming Chapter members present decided to offer an Ethics course in January 2011.
